Interior

The cold October rain
reminds me of your pain
and all that you endured while slowly dying
and if I claim to feel
resolved of that ordeal
one look into my eyes reveals I’m lying

refurbishing my cell
I contemplate your hell
as vibrant paint replaces dingy languor
and thankfully I see
your mended spirit free
that keepsake image safe upon its hanger.

I understand this poem from having had a similar personal experience. It was inded 'hell' and is still 'hell' to remember! But yes, now they are free...and whole again, and I'd like to think laughing and smiling too.

Sorry it took so long to answer, yes that's the image I choose to cherish, one of wholeness and happiness. Thanks and much peace to you and yours.
